Next Generation Technologies Symposium

Next Generation Technologies Symposium

60 delegates attended our Symposium during World Continence Week 2016 and enjoyed a rich programme of guest speakers and pilot project presentations.

The day opened with a welcome from IMPRESS principal investigator, Dr Peter Culmer, and a keynote address from the esteemed incontinence researcher, Professor Alan Cottenden, from the Continence and Skin Technology Group at UCL. Thereafter a taste of what the future may hold for incontinence healthcare was delivered through a broad range of talks, showing how technologies from many different disciplines can and are being applied to this important challenge. Delegates were able to see how work such as a multiple sensing device for pelvic floor therapy, stretchable electronics for sensing bladder fullness, smart coatings for catheters, re-engineered bladder tissue and biomaterials for anal sphincter repair may all lead to new ways of treating and managing incontinence.
